Quarterly Report

Quarterly Report for Local 3645 January 2021

Greetings Members: Our number one goal is to make sure all members in our 22 stations know what is happening in the Local through total transparency. The primary place to find all union information in our Union website. The Union website is CWALOCAL3645.ORG. Relevant Union Updates will be posted on Union Boards. The Union boards have limited space so of course every update can not be posted that is the Union website is the Primary source of Union Information.

• COVID 19 and GENERAL SAFETY

The Union is overly concerned about the spread of Covid 19 at all of our airports. The Union officers are having regular meetings with the company to make sure Piedmont is adhering to the CDC guidelines. The Unions safety chairperson is also in constant conversation with the company to get additional protections from the company such as plexiglass at the gates. This of course would have to be system wide so Approval and funding must come from American.  The Union is also ensuring that the company is providing CWA members with comprehensive safety and prevention measures in an environment that encourages open and free communication without fear of reprisal or negative impacts on pay or continued employment. As an employee it is your responsibility to report all safety concerns to your management team and to the safety department for piedmont. The number is on the back of your safety card and you can find the link to file a safety report on the Piedmont Employee website.

• Shop Steward Training Class

The local has finally begun  Shop Steward Training classes and will have conducted three classes in January of 2021.  Mostly all of the agents whose names were on the list that wanted to get trained will be trained by the end of January. Our CWA National Staff Representative has organized Zoom calls for the training and that will be the way Steward Training classes will be conducted while the Social distancing restrictions are in place. If you are interest in steward training and have not done so already, please email the Local at [email protected] with your name, station and date of hire to have your name added to the list. Please only use you personal email.

•  CWA and Piedmont Station Leader meetings

The Leadership Team of Local 3645 have regular Biannual meeting with the Piedmont Leadership team in the 22 stations in our locals. The Leadership team of Local 3645 felt that regular meeting with the Station management team has resulted in open lines of communications. This has led to an increase in agent morale, station Productivity and Positive working environment for all work groups including management. These Biannual meeting are an additional way to address, solve and come up with creative ways to resolve issues and conflicts that come up in the workplace. These meetings are in addition to the regular station visits conducted by the Area Representatives and Officers.  Ultimately the goal is to ensure our stations are meeting or exceeding their goals and continuing to be a valuable part of the American Airlines Group and that we all have jobs.

• New Hire Orientation

We have been having an average of one new hire orientations every week now in CLT. New Hire orientation  is very important because it is the first point of contact that our new hires have with the union. Providing them with the fundamentals of what the union does/ is and is doing is extremely important.  Those new hires that do not train in CLT get their Orientation in their stations by the stewards in their prospective stations.

• One Plane at a Time

Remember we need to be working safe and following ALL of the rules. Read the EGOM, P&P, & handbook and make sure you are following everything to a T! Do not take shortcuts because shortcuts can cost you your life. Work safe at all times and report all equipment that doesn't work no matter how MINOR you think it is. Windshield wipers don't work? Tag it out! Belt loader doesn't work correctly tag it out. Follow all lifting techniques. We have to be diligent in working safe and remember. Piedmont Works because We Work!
